Aesthetics Assessment 3

The theme of my assessment video is the ridiculous theme. The location of this film was filtered by me for a long time, and finally I chose this place to match the style theme of my video. The video is mainly composed of relatively old and relatively ridiculous scenery. Mainly based on the fixed picture, some things in the scene are slightly shaken, in order to prevent the scene from appearing monotonous. The main source of my video is a video “ASHES” (Bilibili.com, 2019). The color, style and overall picture in the reference video are very shocking. I also borrowed the shooting angle and framing method in the video. Like Figure 1, I shot the corner of the building from the bottom to the top. I took a similarity in the 10th second of my video.

For example, Figure 2. It is based on the flame, this scene is used in the 53rd and the last scene of my video, and finally I use the flame to extinguish the end of the video.

This shot draws on the advice that tutor gave me, for example, using a tripod to shoot multiple angles of view. And learned the color palette, and brought out the color tone that matches the video style. But through the reference video, I still have a lot of shortcomings. For example, the use of light and shadow. In ‘ASHES’ (Bilibili.com, 2019), all the proportions of the lens, light and shadow are particularly professional, but the light and shadow I used during the shooting was not very satisfactory. I will learn the lesson and improve it next time.

I think that this shooting has improved a lot compared to the shooting of assets1, and I am generally satisfied, especially the music part. It is my last minute of Endless Melancholy’s ‘Before, After’ (Endless M, 2012). I think it’s especially in line with the style of my video, so I tried to write a similar piece of music and made my music professional friends make the appropriate changes. Finally, I played it on the piano and recorded it. In the process of composing, I consulted a lot of information, and asked the professional friends to use my previous music knowledge. Finally wrote this piece of music. The prelude is simpler, smoother, and gradually enters the chorus. The melody of the chorus part is more complicated, and it is more difficult in the process of editing. The chorus part also changed, adding a more complicated rhythm in it, it took me a lot of time. I think the effect is quite satisfactory.

The definition of aesthetics is very broad, and aesthetics allows people to observe and understand the world in detail. As David said, through aesthetics to accurately know what is feasible and what is not feasible, it can make anything in the world credible. (David O, 2009, P.7) is reasonable. The aesthetics of this semester gave me a lot of knowledge, and the previous video assignments were done in small groups. This time, in my personal form, I learned to think about things more comprehensive. Although the effect of the video can be more perfect, I also feel that I have done my best.
